Following residency, Dr Andreoli held a faculty position at Rush University Medical Center, which has a very robust medical consult service whose daily census was typically over 100 patients. He moved to Denver in 2017 when he continued his Hospital Medicine career at Denver Health Medical Center with a faculty appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He has been working closely with the surgical services to expand the scope of an already strong medical consult team at Denver Health. He is married and doing his best to teach his 3-year-old girl to ski, and to teach his 10-month-old girl to tolerate hour-long winter hikes.

Dr Kondo received her medical degree from Des Moines University. She completed Diagnostic Radiology residency and Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM). She is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology and a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology. Her interests include medical education, and she teaches radiology to medical students and residents at CUSOM.

Dale Terasaki is an internist and addiction medicine specialist at Denver Health, where he provides addiction consultations in the hospital setting. He is currently engaged in clinical research evaluating interventions for alcohol use disorder and has published articles on buprenorphine inductions and harm reduction. A Colorado Health Service Corps awardee, Dr. Terasaki is focused on providing and improving substance use disorder care in urban, underserved settings. He earned his medical and public health degrees from the University of Washington and completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Colorado.

Carver College of Medicine. She is a University of Colorado alumni where she completed her residency program in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Infectious Disease. Dr. Pisney has over 10 years of experience in medicine and infectious diseases.

Juan N. Lessing MD, FACP is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of Colorado. He serves as Director of Scholarship for his Division University of Colorado Hospital and as the University of Colorado Internal Medicine Assistant Director of the Clerkship and Acting Internship. His passion is everything clinical reasoning, improving his own as well as education and scholarship opportunities in this domain. He is co-editor of www.clinicalreasoning.org, associate editor for Aquifer Diagnostic Excellence Case Board, and is co-author of the chapter “Remediating learning and performance of clinical reasoning in medicine” in the book Clinical Reasoning in the Health Professions.

Anna Neumeier is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado. She is the Associate Program Director for the Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and the Course Director for the Integrated Clinician’s Course in the School of Medicine. Clinically she practices at Denver Health Medical Center where she serves as the Associate Medical Director for the intensive care unit and the Medical Director for Respiratory Therapy. Her academic interests involve medical education with focus on curriculum design and pedagogical approaches to promote sustainable practice and advancement across the continuum of learning.

Tracy Johnson brings more than 20 years of experience in health policy and program development, research, and evaluation. Johnson currently serves as the State of Colorado Medicaid Director in the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. Previously she was with Denver Health and Hospital Authority (DHHA) where she served as DHHA’s Director of Health Care Reform Initiatives. She led Denver Health’s implementation of federal health care reform, specifically in the areas of delivery system and payment reform. Prior to that, she served as principal of her own health policy consulting firm and in state government. Throughout these roles, she has directed numerous research and consulting projects across the population health spectrum – health insurance coverage, population segmentation/data analytics, delivery system design, health system financing and payment models, safety net provider issues and health equity.

Johnson holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and an M.A. in Biomedical Ethics from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Cervantes received her undergraduate degree at CU Boulder and completed both her medical degree and internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her background as a first generation Latina inspired her deep commitment to becoming a physician as well as her community service, advocacy, and research focused on promoting social justice in medical education and care. Dr. Cervantes has worked for over 12 years as an internal medicine hospitalist at Denver Health, the safety-net hospital, and has dedicated her career to creating a healthcare workforce that is diverse as well as conducting research to improve person-centered and clinical outcomes among Latinx patients on dialysis. The catalyst for her interest in improving outcomes for Latinx patients with chronic kidney disease was a former undocumented Latina patient with kidney failure who struggled with emergency dialysis (dialysis in the emergency department when critically ill) and ultimately died. Funded by the RWJF and the Doris Duke Foundation, Dr. Cervantes discovered the worse outcomes of undocumented immigrants who rely only on emergency dialysis. In 2019, as a result of Dr. Cervantes’ research and stakeholder engagement, Colorado Medicaid opted to include the diagnosis of kidney failure as a qualifying condition under Emergency Medicaid thereby expanding access to standard dialysis. In addition to her work with the undocumented kidney failure community, Dr. Cervantes is developing culturally tailored interventions that will address the social challenges faced by documented Latinx patients with chronic kidney disease.
